What the eligibility checker looks at
The checker compares your answers with ECO4, the Warm Homes: Local Grant and the Boiler Upgrade Scheme. For other UK countries it gives an official-service referral rather than reproducing changing local rules. It looks at location, income, benefits, property type, EPC rating, current heating, and whether you own or rent your home.
Income and benefits
The checker uses Ofgem's current direct ECO4 benefit list. Council ECO4 Flex, Local Grant and BUS routes use different rules, so a benefit is never treated as final approval.
Property and EPC rating
The Local Grant requires EPC D to G. ECO4 bands depend on tenure. BUS no longer requires a valid EPC for applications made from 28 April 2026.
Owner, tenant, or landlord
Private and social tenants have different routes. Landlord consent or housing-provider participation is normally needed for permanent work. EPC compliance itself is not a grant.
What grants could be included?
Depending on your answers, the checker may point to ECO4, the Local Grant, BUS or an official country service. It does not promise a particular measure, saving, household contribution, installer or installation.
What happens after the check?
Open the official link in each result. The relevant council, supplier, Ofgem process or authorised installer checks the evidence, property and funding. WarmHome UK is not currently assigning installers.

What energy grants does the eligibility checker cover?
The checker assesses ECO4, the England-only Warm Homes: Local Grant and the Boiler Upgrade Scheme in England and Wales. For devolved programmes it provides an official country-service referral rather than claiming eligibility.
Do I need to receive benefits to qualify for energy grants?
Not always. BUS has no income test. The Local Grant and ECO4 use different income, benefit, EPC, tenure and funding routes, so the checker only suggests a potential match.
Can tenants check eligibility for insulation or heating grants?
Yes. Private tenants can use the checker, but most grant-funded insulation, heating, or solar work needs landlord consent because the property owner must approve permanent upgrades. Social housing tenants should also contact their housing provider.
Is the WarmHomeUK eligibility checker free?
Yes. The checker is free to use and takes around two minutes. It gives an indicative result based on the answers you provide; final eligibility is confirmed by the council, scheme administrator, energy supplier, or installer after assessment.
